Spring Semester 2012: Leadership in Action

On Friday Feb 17, the ASPIRE Leadership team convened the spring welcome to campus meeting.  Both seasoned ASPIRE members and students attending their first meeting turned out to learn about the spring 2012 ASPIRE agenda.   The session was led by current President Quindara Lazenbury who was supported by President-Elect Katie Kull.  Working side by side, the organizations elect officers and current officers outlined a busy, busy semester.  This semester, meetings are planned that feature new and exciting topics, such as Planning Life on a Teacher’s Salary, Using Travel Abroad Experiences to Explore Education in Other Cultures.  A full calendar of service opportunities was also presented, and these are outlined on the Get Involved page of this site.

Additionally, the group welcomed Dr. Shuaib Meacham who joins the ASPIRE faculty leadership team this semester as co-sponsor of the student organization.  Dr. Meacham will work with ASPIRE to mount a new initiative that focuses on preparing more young men to teach.  A late spring launch is planned for the ASPIRE Brothers and Leaders in Education (ABLE) initiative.  Stay tuned to this site for more information on how you can get involved.

A highlight of all ASPIRE gatherings is the sharing of community spirit and opportunities to meet new friends and reconnect with others…and so it is….
